MIDWEST CITY, Oklahoma -- While many of us are happy to see the rainy weather it's creating a headache for one metro hospital.

Midwest Regional Medical Center is undergoing construction and more rain is the last thing they need.

The hospital had clean-up crews Wednesday getting up water, along with a roofing crew making sure no more water leaks through.

The problem started two weeks ago when Midwest City was hit by a powerful storm. Part of the roof at Midwest Regional Medical Center came off sending water pouring onto the sixth floor. Storms Tuesday night caused even more problems.

"Last night we had about three inches of rain based on the weather gauges that we got out there," Page Vaughan, CEO, Midwest Regional Medical Center, said.

The hospital had cleanup crews inside all day clearing out the water.

Management said at no time was patient safety ever compromised.

"It didn't affect any of our patient care or patient areas, but we are kind of on the move making sure everything's dried out and not to create any inconvenience for anybody," Vaughan said.

The water damage appears to be a direct result of the construction project underway. The hospital is expanding adding two new floors. So the roof over the sixth floor was already compromised. The hospital says there were no patients being cared for on the floor. Management is now taking steps to protect the roof from inclement weather while the construction continues.

"We've got a local roofer out of Norman who's up there with 60 people as we speak because it, it's going to rain the rest of the week, so we want to minimize anything that might happen," Vaughan said.
