The Tulsa Toy Depot is celebrating 10 years in Tulsa of offering toys, arts and crafts classes and story time for children.

Starting Tuesday, kids under 13 have a chance to win a prize through a new summer challenge.

How to Play

Children coming into the Tulsa Toy Depot will look for a small, 3D printed train hidden somewhere in the store, for the chance to win a $100 gift card.

The train could be hidden anywhere, including among the stuffed animals, between games on a shelf, or among books.

"We want to make it challenging. We don't want it to be something you find in the first minute,” Owner Ryan McAdams said.

McAdams said if a child finds the train, they automatically get something sweet for that week.

This week, that means edible cookie dough.

They'll also get a punch in their "Summer Train Chase" card.

If they get six punches over the next nine weeks, those children will be entered into a drawing for the grand prize.

Giving Back to Customers

"We wanted to do something fun throughout the summer, where you can come by, we can basically treat you with some candy or chocolate and just thank you for being a customer, thank you for being a part of the community and just supporting us for 10 years,” McAdams said.

McAdams said children might even find the train near the treats, in the candy section of the store.

"If someone you know that has a sweet tooth, you can give them toys and candy. So they can both have fun and enjoy something,” nine-year-old Piper Bahlinger said.

She’s been to the store before and visited on Tuesday with her grandpa.

"I'm buying a gift for my neighbor,” she said. “They just had a baby last year and it's her birthday, so we're getting her a gift."

She may be back this summer to look for the train, and knows if she does come in, she'll enjoy her visit.

"It's just special because all the workers are very nice and kind so it's always a pleasure to be with them,” Bahlinger said.

The challenge wraps up at the end of July and one kid will win a $100 gift card.

The Toy Depot is open seven days a week from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., except Sunday when the store opens at 2:00 p.m.
