Severe storms hit Tulsa causing major power outages and road closures. Live updates on restoration efforts and alternate routes.

Severe storms brought power outages to the Tulsa area Saturday morning. Some of these issues are causing road closures because power lines are down.

Total Customer Outages: 10,930

Storm Response Update #2:

PSO crews and business partners are working to restore power across the Tulsa and McAlester areas. Estimated times of restoration for customers whose property is in condition to accept electricity are as follows:

  1. Tulsa District: Between now and 12:00 p.m. Monday
  2. McAlester: Between now and 6:00 p.m. Sunday
  3. Okmulgee: Between now and 8:00 p.m. Saturday
  4. Hugo, Atoka, Idabel: Between now and 8:00 p.m. Saturday

Downed trees, power lines and other damage are creating potentially hazardous conditions. Please assume any downed utility line is energized, stay away from the line and do not touch it with anything. Call 1-833-776-6884 (1-833-PSO-OUTG) to report an outage or safety hazard like downed wires, downed poles or trees that have fallen on power lines.

Outages

  1. As of 5:00 p.m., approximately 14,124 customers remain without power. 65% of customers impacted by Saturday’s severe weather have been restored. Crews will be working around the clock to restore power safely and as quickly as possible.

Storm Restoration

  1. In addition to over 500 lineworkers, forestry personnel and support staff working on system, PSO is in the process of onboarding an additional 425 workers.
  2. PSO continually prepares for all types of weather throughout the year and regularly conducts storm drills to ensure the PSO team is ready to respond immediately.

More than 56,000 customers in the state are without power this morning. Most of those are in Northeast Oklahoma.

Public Service Company of Oklahoma (PSO) is reporting 37,100 customers are without power Saturday morning. Check PSO outages here.

Here is what we know:

  1. 76th St N is closed between Main Street (Owasso) and N Mingo Rd in both directions (E/W) due to power lines down across the roadway. PSO advises it will be several hours before the poles are removed and replaced.
  2. A tree is completely blocking the road at 84th North/177th East in Owasso. Plan another route.
  3. Due to downed trees and wind gusts up to 70 mph, parts of the Claremore are experiencing power outages.
  4. Claremore Power & Light crews are addressing downed circuits causing outages north along Lowry back to the east, as well as south and down to the retail corridor east of SH 66. Restoration will occur as soon as possible.
