Cleveland Co. Sheriff Investigating Sunday Shooting In Newalla

The Cleveland County Sheriff's Office is investigating a shooting that happened Sunday morning in Newalla.

CCSO said at around 10:15 a.m., Cleveland County Deputies responding to a shooting call near Bob McDonald Road and East Indian Hills Road where they said an argument between two brothers escalated into a shooting.

Investigators on scene determined the pair had gotten into an argument, which resulted in one brother, 24-year-old Tanner Perkins, shot the other, an unnamed 21-year-old, in the chest.

Authorities said the elder Perkins then ran into the surrounding woods, where he shot himself. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 21-year-old that was shot was transported to the hospital, and is in stable condition.

CCSO said this is an ongoing investigation.
