The severe weather threat remains likely Sunday for a large part of News 9's viewing area, stretching across southwest and central Oklahoma.
Right now, we're expecting storms to fire across southwest Oklahoma Sunday afternoon before they race northeast towards central Oklahoma early Sunday night. Keep in mind that tornadoes are likely in a few of these fast-moving storms approaching the OKC metro to go along with wind and hail.
Damage is also expected to come from wind and tornadoes. The OKC metro will likely see the worst of these storms between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. Sunday.
Stay with News 9. We'll keep you advised.
Chief Meteorologist David Payne joined News 9 in 2013, and you can catch his forecasts weekdays at 4 p.m., 5 p.m., 6 p.m. & 10 p.m. A fourth-generation Oklahoman, David is a native of Guthrie and Edmond, and he graduated from the University of Oklahoma. He’s also an Emmy Award-winning meteorologist, but protecting and warning his fellow Oklahomans is far more important to him than receiving recognition.
