Oklahoma City officials are explaining the execution of the mask mandate passed Friday.
The ordinance has exceptions, but generally requires a person to wear a face covering while inside a public building.
In a statement to News 9 Monday, an Oklahoma City spokesperson said:
“The Oklahoma City County Health Department will follow up on concerns. Oklahoma City is taking an education-first approach to enforcement. We urge people to comply with the face mask rule and not force officials to write a citation. Police will only respond to mask violations if another criminal violation is being committed, such as trespassing.”
There are four ways to report a business or other public indoor facility not complying.
Complaints can be submitted here at okc.gov or on the OKC Connect app. People can text 405-252-1053, or email action.center@okc.gov.
According to city leaders, no citations have been made yet.
