EDMOND, Oklahoma -- Wild fires threatened homes near Edmond and caught a church on fire in northeast Oklahoma City Friday afternoon.
Firefighters battled a blaze near Sorghum Mill Road and Bryant Avenue that burned up to a home near Edmond.
"It was billowing out and the ashes were falling on the house," homeowner Penny Birdshead said. "That's too close, it's time to leave."
Another wild fire caught a church on fire near NE 16th Street and Coltrane Road in Oklahoma City.
"The cedar trees across the street blew up in flames about 25 to 30 foot tall," said. Oklahoma City Fire Battalion Chief Thomas Thurm.
Fire crews from Edmond, Oak Cliff and Guthrie worked together to extinguish the Edmond blaze.
