Since the advent of events such as the Gravity Games and the X-games, a sport has taken its rightful spot next to all others.

It's called Freestyle Motocross and it's taking the country by storm, one show at a time. The Lazy E Arena in Guthrie, Okla. recently played host to the Rush of Adrenaline Tour.

Freestyle Motocross is not like your typical motocross competition. Instead of being the fastest on the track, the rider with the most difficult and "sickest" tricks is declared the winner. Fans pack arenas across the country to see riders do tricks like the starfish, superman seat grab and 360 backflips.

These competitions have panels of judges who rate the rider's tricks on a scale of 0 to 100, 100 being the best. There is first a qualifying round that the riders have to make it through to become one of the four riders who move on to the final round. That round dictates the evening's winner.

The event that took place in Guthrie was a homecoming of sorts for several riders who are from Oklahoma. Cody Elkins from Weatherford won the first night of the two night event. Unfortunately, Cody lost by half of a point the second night to Brody Wilson from Massachusetts.

Looking at the huge crowd in attendence, one would instantly see how this sport transcends all ages, races and genders. Even several senior citizens rose to their feet, cheering in amazement after the first 360 back flip was executed.

If you are one of the few unlucky people who have never attended such an event, you don't know what you're missing. Log on to and find the next show that will be near you and go. You won't regret it.
