Mars Inc. has released a candy bar with a jolt. Snickers Charged is packed 60 milligrams of caffeine, B-vitamins and taurine, said a press release from the snack food company.

According to a study published in the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology, taurine alleviates muscle fatigue in strenuous workouts and raises exercise capacity levels.

Sixty milligrams of caffeine is the equivalent to a relatively normal cup of coffee. Studies put the average cup of coffee at anywhere from 40 to 200 milligrams of caffeine.

The snack company's press release reads that Snickers Charged tastes the same as a traditional Snickers. The new energy candy bar has a layer of "peanut buttery nougat that is covered in peanuts and creamy caramel and then coated in milk chocolate" just like a traditional Snickers.

The new bars are available at selected retailers in January of 2008.
