High pressure is keeping the weather dry from the Great Lakes to New England as skies are sunny to partly cloudy through the northern sections of these regions and partly to mostly cloudy through the southern sections. Widely scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms are being experienced from the mid-Mississippi River Valley east into the northern sections of the mid-Atlantic states. Low pressure is producing scattered showers and thunderstorms from the Dakotas to Texas. Some of these storms will be strong to severe through Oklahoma and Texas. Large hail and strong winds will be the main threat. The rain is changing over to snow through the northern Rockies where it will be windy with 3 to 6 inches of snow likely. A few rain and wet snow showers are spreading from the Pacific Northwest coast into parts of Idaho. Sunshine is the rule from the Southwest east into the southern half of the Rockies.
