EDMOND, Oklahoma -- Edmond residents will start paying more for water starting in October.
The city council debated several options before deciding rates will go up to $7.19 next month.
The increase also means the current base charge will go away and become a meter fee.
The city is joining the Sardis Lake project to join other cities and build a pipeline to pump more water in. The Sardis Lake project is expected to start next year.
Officials say the need for water will double by 2060.
The Oklahoma City Council will debate whether or not to raise costs Tuesday.
