NORMAN, Oklahoma -- Norman firefighters and the State Department of Health are teaming up this weekend to make sure residents have a working smoke detector in their home.

Norman Deputy Fire Chief Jim Bailey said on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., volunteers will visit neighborhoods in the area of Porter Avenue, west to Berry Road and Robinson Street south to Main Street to offer and install the detectors.

Residents can call 245-9522 to verify the identity of any team members working in the area. Those who need smoke detectors, can call the Norman Fire Marshal's Office at 292-9780 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
