Trial Begins For Couple Accused Of Killing Toddler

OKLAHOMA CITY -- The trial begins Monday for a couple accused of killing a 3-year-old boy.

Eli Johnson died in September 2009. The boy's mother, Tye Shafer, and her boyfriend, Eddie Valdez, are charged with first-degree murder.

Prosecutors said Valdez had beaten the boy before and confessed to repeatedly slamming Eli's head in a toilet.

Valdez pleaded guilty last month to the boy's murder.
