CADDO COUNTY, Oklahoma -- A Chickasha man is hospitalized in serious condition after jumping from a moving truck – while he was driving. Darrell R. Johnson is in an Oklahoma City hospital after the Saturday night incident on a rural Caddo County road.

The 32-year-old man was driving a 1995 Ford Ranger down County Road 1310 when he jumped from the vehicle at about 6:55 p.m., according to the Oklahoma State Highway Patrol.

Johnson had two passengers in the truck: 31-year-old Karyleen A. Horsechief and 19-year-old Jesse D. Fulton, both of Chickasha. Troopers say Horsechief was able to bring the truck under control after it went off the road into a ditch.

Neither passenger was injured.

Troopers say Johnson, who smelled of alcohol, received arm and head injuries. The report lists the cause of the collision as driving under the influence.
