OU Women's Basketball Releases Non-Conference Schedule

NORMAN, Oklahoma— The University of Oklahoma women's basketball team released its non-conference schedule Wednesday and the 14-game lineup features some top talent from across the country.

The Sooners will host Big Ten champ Ohio State in December before facing Big East champion Connecticut in February for the annual Pack the Place Pink night.

"Once again, our pre-conference schedule will be one of the most challenging in the country," said OU head coach Sherri Coale. "We will have a young team that will be forced to grow up quickly, however, the Big 12 conference is unforgiving. It's imperative that we prepare ourselves for the grind of league play and ultimately for the climb of March in the NCAA tournament.

OU will open the season with an exhibition matchup against UCO on Nov. 2 and the official season opener is set for Nov. 13 against Sacramento State.

Oklahoma will also host the first and second round of the NCAA Women's Basketball Championship at the Lloyd Noble Center Sunday, March 18, and Tuesday, March 20.

Tip-off times and broadcast information will be announced at a later date and the 18-game Big 12 Conference schedule will be announced in August. The 2012 Big 12 Women's Basketball Championship will be held at Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City, Mo, March 7-10.
