DURANT, Oklahoma -- The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says a trooper was hurt when his cruiser was struck by a pickup truck in Bryan County.

The patrol says 28-year-old David McCutcheon sustained head injuries in the accident on U.S. Highway 69 about 12:12 p.m.Thursday.

The trooper was taken to a Plano, Texas, hospital where he was listed in stable condition.

Officials say Trooper McCutcheon's patrol vehicle was sitting stationary in a construction area marked by barrels and emergency equipment. They say a pickup truck driven by San Antonio, Texas, resident Cecil Williams ran off the highway and struck McCutcheon's vehicle.

The patrol says Williams was taken to a Durant hospital for treatment and released. Patrol officials say Williams was suffering from low blood sugar when the accident occurred.
