Payne County Collision Kills One

PERKINS, Oklahoma – A head on collision killed one person on a county road in rural Payne County Friday, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported.

Dovie Elizabeth Jacobs, 72, of Coyle, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident six miles west of Perkins.

The other driver, 28-year-old Gary Don Longan of Perkins, was not injured.

The OHP reported that Longan's southbound pickup collided head on with Jacobs' four-door sedan on the unmarked dirt road.

Longan was wearing a seatbelt, Jacobs was not, according to the trooper's report.

Neither vehicle was carrying passengers.
