OKLAHOMA CITY – News9.com's Jessica Coody traveled to three games Friday as part of the Friday Night Roundup, featuring victories by Pauls Valley, Edmond North and Bishop McGuinness.
In the first game of the Roundup, Purcell put its perfect record on the line in a tough district test against Pauls Valley in Purcell's Homecoming. But Pauls Valley jumped on the board first with a long touchdown pass from Joe Foster to Dwayne Sanders.
Purcell responded with a touchdown of its own to tie the game, which began a trend of both teams responding to each other. The score remained close all night, but Pauls Valley managed to pull out a 38-34 win to end Purcell's perfect season.
In the second game of the night, Edmond North played through an emotional game after the death of Ryan Smith. In front of their home crowd, with "Remembering Ryan" posters hanging throughout the stadium, the Huskies kept their perfect record intact with a 20-13 victory over Westmoore.
In the final stop of the Roundup, Bishop McGuinness cruised to a blowout win. The Irish scored the first 56 points of the game before giving up a lone touchdown in the fourth quarter in a 56-7 blowout of Elgin.
