MOORE, Oklahoma – A 19-year-old man shot in the stomach by an off-duty Oklahoma City police officer has a history of domestic abuse.  The teen is accused of kidnapping and beating up the officer's daughter.

Even though the victim is the daughter of a police officer, it didn't stop her boyfriend, Hollan Corliss, from becoming violent and making death threats.

The threats started Saturday morning. Corliss and his 17 year old girlfriend were in a car accident in Moore.

Barbara Baxter's daughter's face was black and blue she says--and police confirm--not from the accident.

"He was just punching her continuously on one side," Barbara Baxter, the girl's mother, said.

She said Corliss threatened to kill the girl if she told anyone.

"He told her not to say a word to anyone… and a deer caused the accident… and the face stuff was the accident—nothing to do with him," Baxter said.

She later learned the accident was an attempt by Corliss to take his life and her daughter's.

Later the same day, Corliss came to his girlfriend's house to get a ring, but was confronted by her father, off-duty Oklahoma City police officer Everett Baxter.

Investigators say Corliss punched the officer and tried to grab his gun and that's when the officer shot Corliss in the stomach.

The violent behavior isn't a first for Corliss. He was arrested in June for domestic abuse.

Sergeant Jeremy Lewis of the Moore Police Department said, "There obviously is starting to be a pattern with two incidents—both of domestic abuse—so the pattern is there."

Both incidents involved Baxter's daughter.

Even though Corliss is in the Cleveland County jail, Baxter said she fears it's only a matter of time before he comes back.

"I think… I think… It's made it worse," she said.

Baxter's daughter has requested a protective order against Corliss.

Corliss was arraigned today in Cleveland County and his bond was set at $50,000.
