Moore Police have arrested a man who was shot by an Oklahoma City police officer after he allegedly kidnapped and assaulted the officer's teenage daughter.

Police said 19-year-old Hollan Corliss and his girlfriend were involved in a single-car accident around 5:40 a.m. near S.W. 34th Street and Santa Fe in Moore. Corliss's girlfriend had injuries to her face and originally claimed they happened during the crash. She later told officers Corliss had kidnapped and assaulted her, causing the wounds to her face.

Later that same day, police said Corliss called his girlfriend and told her he was coming to her house to retrieve some of his property. When Corliss arrived, the girl's father, off-duty Oklahoma City police officer Everett Baxter, told his son to call 911 and confronted Corliss at the front door.

Baxter had his firearm and ordered Corliss to get on the ground and wait for Moore police officers to arrive. The Moore Police Department said Corliss then punched Baxter and tried to take his gun. During the struggle, Baxter shot Corliss once in the abdomen. An ambulance rushed him to OU Medical Center.

Corliss's wound was not serious. He was released from the hospital on Monday, November 7, and arrested on a warrant for kidnapping and domestic abuse.
