Ellenberg Leads Sooners Past Cal State Northridge

Aaryn Ellenberg scored 24 points to help OU cruise past Cal State Northridge, 79-57.

Aaryn Ellenberg hit five three-pointers and scored 24 points to lead the Oklahoma Sooners to a 79-57 win over Cal State Northridge Saturday afternoon.

Ellenberg led four Sooners in double-figures. Portia Durrett had a double-double, scoring 14 points and grabbing 10 rebounds in just 15 minutes of action.

Nicole Griffin had 11 points and Sharane Campbell had 10. Joanna McFarland added 10 rebounds and nine points to help the Sooners dominate the glass, 55-42.

Jianni Jackson and Janae Sharpe each scored 12 points to lead Cal State Northridge, which shot just 28 percent from the field for the game.

The Sooners 43.3 percent from the field for the game, but lit up the scoreboard for three-point distance, hitting 12 shots from deep as a team.

Oklahoma trailed just once, 2-1 in the first minute of the game, and led 37-24 at halftime.

In the second half, OU's dominance on the glass and hot shooting helped the Sooners expand their lead to as many as 32 on a layup by Jasmine Hartman with eight minutes remaining in the contest.

OU volleyball players Tara Dunn and Eden Williams, added to the roster this week to provide depth to a team with only eight healthy scholarship players checked into the game with 3:54 remaining in the contest, but neither scored during their time on the court.

Oklahoma opens Big 12 play on Wednesday, when the Sooners host West Virginia in the Mountaineers Big 12 debut. Tip time is set for 7 p.m.
