USGS Reports 3.0 Magnitude Quake In Alfalfa County

The United States Geological Survey (USGS) reported an earthquake near Helena in Alfalfa County. At 8:10 p.m. Saturday, the 3.0 magnitude quake was reported five miles northwest of Helena and 29 miles west, northwest of Enid.

The quake was more than six miles deep, according to USGS.

There are no reports of major injury or damage at this time.

According to the USGS, earthquakes with magnitudes ranging from 2.5 to 3.0 are generally the smallest ones felt by humans. Damage is more likely from quakes at a 4.0 magnitude and higher.
