With less than a week before voters hit the polls, the race between Jon Cox and Joy Hofmeister to become the next State School too close to call, according to the latest News 9 poll.

At this point both campaigns hope to sway undecided voters after last month's exclusive News 9 poll showed the race was dead even.

Our third and final poll taken just a week before election day shows only two points separate Hofmeister and Cox.

“The race is really tight right now," said Bill Shapard, CEO of SoonerPoll.com. “Hofmeister has the lead going into Tuesday and I think it will come down to the very last bit of votes.”

According to our survey of 949 likely voters, Hofmeister, at 42, percent has gained four points since last month. Cox, at 40 percent, has gained two points. When you factor in the margin of error, they are still tied. Nearly 18 percent of voters are still undecided.

The general election is Nov. 4.

The survey of 949 likely voters was conducted Oct. 25-29 by SoonerPoll.com, using a dual frame of both cell phones and land lines. The poll has a margin of error of +/- 3.18 percentage points. Results are weighted by age and party, stratified to Oklahoma likely voter demographics.
