The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says both westbound lanes of the Turner Turnpike near the Wellston exit have been reopened after a semi fire forced their closure early Wednesday.

Troopers said the semi which was hauling rubber mats caught fire at about 1:25 a.m.  The OHP diverted westbound traffic onto Highway 66 at Chandler for several hours.

The OHP reopened both westbound lanes at 6:46 a.m. They said the burning rubber caused a very smokey fire.

Just after 5:15 a.m. the OHP reopened one westbound lane and said traffic at the fire scene was moving slowly in both directions.

No word on if there were any injuries due to the fire.
