Oklahoma City police are looking for a man who attacked a woman in a Walmart parking lot and then took her purse with $1,000 in cash inside it.
The purse snatching happened Feb. 22 at the Walmart Neighborhood Market located near NW 23 and Pennsylvania Ave. The store’s surveillance cameras got a really good shot of the suspect as he was walking out of the store, just minutes before the attack.
“I never seen him,” said Nazma Sultana, who was the woman this man targeted in the parking lot.
She has lived in Oklahoma City for the past 10 years, but she and her family are originally from Bangladesh.
They run a little family store along Villa and NW 34.
But Sultana was at the Walmart Neighborhood Market buying diapers and groceries for their home.
Normally, she has her daughter with her, but this time she was alone.
And that's when, out of nowhere, a man came from behind and grabbed her purse, knocking her to the ground.
“Yeah, I was a scared,” Sultana said. “And I got hurt my head and this hand and here.”
The police report states a witness tried to chase down the purse snatcher, but he got away.
Now, the Sultana family is just wondering if they'll ever see the money that was in Nazma's purse.
She said normally she doesn't carry that much cash, but she has her mother in from Bangladesh and they had just been to the doctor's office for an X-ray. It was all the money her mother had.
Fortunately, they found her mother's passport.
But they still would love someone to find the cash and her phone with all her contacts.
