As Hurricane Ida is downgraded to a tropical storm, Oklahoma Agencies are on their way to help those in Louisiana.

Locally, The Red Cross has mobilized trained disaster workers.  They are helping victims who are taking shelter in Texas and Florida an bringing the supplies needed to help them.

First responders from the Oklahoma City Police Department are also helping in the effort.

Once the storm passes, Oklahoma’s Task Force One is ready to begin helping in Port Allen, Lousiana.

That team includes OKC Police and firefighters from Oklahoma City, Norman, Yukon, Edmond and Chickasha.

Their main focus will be bringing water to communities without plumbing and helping with search and rescue efforts.

OG&E has also sent a fleet of trucks and 240 linemen to Baton Rouge to help restore power.
