OKC Zoo Hosts Naming Contest For White-Tailed Deer

The Oklahoma City Zoo could use your help. As the Zoo welcomes two new female white-tailed deer, they’re calling on zoo fans to assist with naming them.

The Oklahoma City Zoo could use your help. As the Zoo welcomes two new female white-tailed deer, they’re calling on zoo fans to assist with naming them.

According to a news release, the deer siblings will eventually relocate from a habitat by the okapi to the white-tailed habitat at Oklahoma Trails.

The contest will be held on Facebook. It begins Monday, October 5 and ends Thursday, October 8. The winning names will be announced on Friday, October 9.

The name options are as follows:

 

  1. Tiva (means dance) and Tula (mountain peak in Choctaw language) – Caretakers Choice
  2. Kaya (means eldest sister) and Toma (means sun)
  3. Magena (means moon) and Ama (water in Cherokee language)


Participants will have a chance to win a family membership to the OKC Zoo.
