Thunder forward Kevin Durant will be removed from basketball activities and is out indefinitely General Manager Sam Presti announced at a press conference Friday.
Presti stated that Durant is "Not making the progress that we had hoped for." He also said that Durant still had soreness in his foot. "This is the right decision, difficult for him I know" Presti said about the situation.
Durant will continue conditioning and athletic progress work, but will not be allowed to do basketball activities on the floor. There is no timetable on when/if Durant will return this season.
Durant had played in just 27 games this season after suffering a rash of injuries beginning with the right foot Jones fracture that started this whole mess. Durant had a screw replaced on Feb. 22nd and was expected to return after a short rehab. But that return date has been pushed back and back and back until today.
The Thunder are 38-30 and in eighth place in the Western Conference standings.
Presti also announced that Enes Kanter will not play Friday night against the Atlanta Hawks because of an ankle injury.
