EDMOND, Okla. -- An old state law is the focus of a new crackdown in Edmond.
Police are taking a closer look at vehicles with tinted windows.
Edmond police officer Milo Box recently pulled over a car in the afternoon.
"I couldn't identify who was in the vehicle, how many people were in the vehicle," Box said.
State law prohibits heavy tinting of car windows.
"They're not supposed to tint anything over 25 percent on the side windows, 10 percent on the back windows and side passenger windows," Box said.
The law has barely been enforced by police, officials said. Starting in October, Edmond police will hand out $244 citations to anyone with barely visible tints.
The city is giving drivers time to get their windows fixed.
