Families in Northeast Oklahoma City have a new place for their children to play.
More than 50 volunteers spent their Saturday building a new playground for Hope Crossing, a Habitat for Humanity neighborhood. A local family donated $75,000 to build the park.
"Really there's not any park in this quadrant of the city," said Ann Felton with Habitat for Humanity. "A number of years ago Harrison Park was closed, so really it's the only park in this area."
The playground includes a jungle gym, swings, benches, and picnic tables.
John Valuck volunteered to help build the playground.
"It gives me a good feeling to help someone else and know that this effort is going to be useful to someone else," he said.
When the neighborhood is complete, the playground will serve more than 200 families.
