COVINGTON, La. -- Questions about pre-trial publicity were key as jurors were being selected for the south Louisiana trial of an alleged Ku Klux Klan leader charged with second-degree murder.
Prospective jurors were questioned individually behind closed doors about what they had heard or seen in news reports about the case of Raymond Foster. Opening statements in Foster's trial in Covington were expected to begin as early as Tuesday afternoon or evening.
Foster, of Washington Parish, is accused of fatally shooting Cynthia Lynch of Tulsa, Okla., in November 2008. Authorities said at the time that she had been recruited by way of the Internet to join Foster's Ku Klux Klan group.
Lynch was shot north of New Orleans in rural St. Tammany Parish, near the Washington Parish line.
