NORMAN, Oklahoma – University of Oklahoma linebacker Travis Lewis won't be suiting up against the No. 5 ranked Florida State Seminoles this Saturday.
After breaking a bone in his foot August 8, Lewis was optimistic about returning in time for the top-five matchup against the Seminoles but Monday he informed everyone he has to wait.
"Won't be playing this week . . Still another week away. Sorry sooner fans," said Lewis via his Twitter account.
During his weekly press conference, OU head coach Bob Stoops said Lewis would be re-evaluated today, but that despite the optimism, Stoops didn't find it likely for him to play.
"I know Travis and all players are optimistic, but as far as doctors go, it's not what I expect," said Stoops.
Original reports said Lewis was likely to miss eight weeks of competition, but that it was expected he would be back by late September or early October.
