NORMAN, Oklahoma – OU coach Bob Stoops probably never liked the moniker "Big Game Bob," but that doesn't mean he didn't earn it.
Stoops picked up the nickname not too long after he got to Oklahoma with his ability to coach his team through high-profile game and come out victorious.
But the Sooners' troubles in BCS games over the years as well as some difficulty on the road against ranked opponents have been scrutinized this week.
That's because "big" is probably an understatement when describing this Saturday's matchup with Florida State.
The Sooners, ranked No. 1 in both polls, have had two true road games against ranked non-conference opponents in the Stoops era – and lost both.
The Seminoles enter the game at No. 5 in both polls and might have one of the best home field advantages in college football.
If Stoops and the Sooners can top the Seminoles in Tallahassee, some people might start tossing around the "Big Game" nickname again whether the coach likes it or not.
News 9's Steve McGehee was in Norman to get the latest info on game preparations from Sooner players and coaches.
