A motorcyclist was critically injured when his motorcycle collided with a car in Norman Friday morning, according to the Norman Police Department.

A motorcyclist was critically injured when his motorcycle collided with a car in Norman Friday morning, according to the Norman Police Department.

It happened at 8:35 a.m. at 156th Avenue S.E. and State Highway 9. Police said a Honda Shadow motorcycle driven by Roger Lane Ayers was westbound on Highway 9, when it crashed into a car driven by a 16-year-old girl.

According to police, the car was turning from 156th Avenue to travel westbound on the highway when the collision occurred.

Ayers, 61, was wearing a helmet at the time, and was later transported to O.U. Medical Center in critical condition due to injuries suffered in the wreck.

The teenage driver was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured, police said.

The collision is still under the investigation of the Norman Police Department.
