Keeping your marriage together takes work and everyone hits tough times. Here are the doctor's tips for making it through.
Acknowledge and work on the problem. When it gets tough, don't take your anger out on your spouse.
Next, identify the stressors in your relationship. Once you figure those out, you can find solutions together.
Admit your fears, being vulnerable with one another leads to better understanding and empathy, according to Dr. Phil.
He also says, have emotional integrity. If you say you're going to do something, do it. Don't be afraid to ask for help. For example, don't be afraid to tell your spouse you can't manage the household alone.
Finally, Dr. Phil recommends having list of priorities and goals that you both agree on.
