The National Reining Horse Association lost a member recently. Dale Harvey, a long-time rider, was involved in a crash and died from his injuries.
On Tuesday, Harvey’s wife called one of his close friends at NRHA Futurity. Casey Deary got the news.
“She asked me to go tell her son, Trent.”
Deary grabbed a friend, Jordan Larson, and together told Trent that his dad passed away. They prayed in the parking lot at the State Fair Grounds and cried over Harvey’s loss.
Harvey was a mentor to many at NRHA. Larson describes him as a godly man.
He said, “It says in the Bible that there is no greater love than to lay your life down for another and Dale did that.”
Deary and Larson were amazed at Trent’s strength. Even with his loss, he made an amazing performance at Futurity. The whole arena cheered for Trent as they saw him compete in honor of his father.
