A republican candidate for Oklahoma’s 5th Congressional seat said tapes that appear to show her teaching employees to lie to clients are nothing more than dirty politics.

The tapes anonymously sent to News 9 and other news outlets appear to show congressional candidate Terry Neese allegedly instructing her employees on how to lie to clients.

“Pick up the telephone, dial your home phone number, or call a number where you know no one will answer. You’re going to make a fake phone call and you’re going to ask for a doctor,” the voice on the tapes said.

During a debate Tuesday night between Neese and candidate Stephanie Bice hosted by nondoc.com, Neese insisted that the tapes were not the reason for her abrupt withdrawal from the nomination as director of the U.S. Mint in 2005. She accused Bice of leaking the tapes.

“It was you Stephanie,” Neese said.

“That is absolutely unequivocally false,” Bice shot back.

“No. It’s not. I know the truth,” Neese insisted.

Wednesday, Neese said the tapes were fake and the audio is spliced together.

“I’m saying these are tapes that have been doctored and I’m sure everybody will understand what that means. This is pure politics,” Neese said. “Two hours before the debate those drop and seven days before the runoff election. You look at that. What does that say to you? Someone is scared, and they’re running away from everything.”
