USING AN ANTENNA
& CAN'T FIND ?

RESCAN YOUR TV

IF YOU USE AN ANTENNA TO WATCH NEWS 9 AND WE'RE MISSING FROM YOUR CHANNEL LINEUP, YOU NEED TO RESCAN YOUR TV

You’re probably thinking – what’s a rescan? It’s basically telling your TV & antenna what channels it should be showing. You'll also be making sure that you are receiving the correct signal for the channels you know, love and depend on. If you use a cable provider, you do not need to rescan. If you use a satellite provider and use an antenna as a back up, you need to rescan. Find instructions below.

HOW TO RESCAN

  1. PUSH THE MENU/INPUT BUTTON ON YOUR REMOTE.
  2. SCROLL TO THE "CHANNEL," "TV," OR "SETUP" MENU OPTION AND SELECT "SCAN" OR "AUTO-SCAN."
  3. SELECT "START."
  4. YOU'RE DONE--IT'S THAT EASY!

WHEN TO RESCAN

If these instructions do not match your TV or remote, please find the specific instructions for your device below.

When selecting Autoscan, make sure to select your Antenna option and not Cable.

Still having trouble getting News 9 back? You might need to adjust your antenna to get a better signal.
Here are some tips:

  1. HEIGHT - If you have an indoor antenna, try moving it to a higher location in the room or even to an attic or second-story location if possible. Or, consider switching to a roof-mounted antenna.
  2. DIRECTION - Most antennas are directional and need to be oriented toward a broadcast tower (the KWTV broadcast tower is in Oneta). The FCC's website has a great tool to help you locate our tower from your location. Just type in your address, click Go!, then click on KWTV-DT on the left-hand side. Click on the tower icon for distance and direction information.
  3. DISTANCE - Antennas have a maximum operating range measured in miles. Is yours rated for a greater distance than the distance between your location and our broadcast tower?
  4. INTERFERENCE - Anything between your antenna and our broadcast tower can interfere with your reception. Can you place your antenna near a window or external wall that faces our tower? Try to avoid a location with large trees or buildings between your antenna and our tower.
