Police say a nine-year-old girl was shot in a drive by shooting Tuesday night in northeast Oklahoma City.
According to police reports, the girl was inside an apartment with her family at NE 11th Street and N Stiles.
Police reports said the girl’s grandmother noticed a vehicle outside. Shortly after, five shots rang out.
“One of the bullets came into the apartment and struck the little girl in the arm," Oklahoma City Police Master Sgt. Gary Knight said. "She was transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening gunshot wounds."
According to police, no one on the scene could give a vehicle description.
“We don’t know what the motive was at this point," Knight said. "Obviously, it’s a drive by shooting, we want to get these people identified and off the streets as soon as possible. But we still don’t know the motivations of why they picked that particular apartment."
Meanwhile, the girl was treated and is expected to be fine, according to officers.
“Thankfully, she is going to recover," Knight said.
