The victim's mom described the verdict in one word -- pleased.

While the entire Lane family seemed pleased with the verdict, they also realized the jury's decision is not the end all for them.

But this was the end to Chancey Luna's freedom for a long time. As he walked to his cell all he had to say was, "I'm sorry."

He was likely sorry for the murder of 22-year-old Christopher Lane on Aug. 16, 2013.

Luna was riding in the car with two other teens, Michael Jones and James Edwards Jr. when Luna fired a single shot at Lane while he was jogging on a Duncan road.

In closing arguments, the state told jurors planning a murder can happen an instant before the act is committed. The state said Luna did that by sticking his arm out the window to shoot Lane in the back.

The defense argued Luna fired the gun without a plan and was a horrible judgment call.

One thing was for sure; the Lane family will now go home to Australia, knowing the man who killed their Christopher is behind bars.

The other two men charged in this case.

Michael Jones pleaded guilty to Second Degree Murder and is serving life in prison.

James Edwards, who testified against Luna, has been charged with Accessory after the Fact.
