Looking for something fun and educational to do with the kids this summer? The Junior League of Oklahoma City is offering story time and craft activities to kids at two popular Oklahoma City destinations.
Wild Tuesdays Story Time Safaris - The Oklahoma City Zoo:
Every Tuesday in June and July, 9:30 a.m. or 10:30 a.m.
Wild Tuesdays Story Time Safaris is held at the Oklahoma City Zoo every Tuesday in June and July. Children will go to the ocean, the farm, the jungle and many magical places, as volunteers from the JLOC read an assortment of children's books. Children 11 and under are invited to join the story time sessions at 9:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. at Grandma's Porch located inside the Zoo's Children Zoo. In addition to hearing stories, kids will enjoy craft activities, a complimentary snack and juice box and meet a zoo care giver at the end of each story session. Story sessions last approximately 25 minutes and is free with paid admission to the zoo.
Reading Rainforest - Myriad Botanical Garden's Crystal Bridge:
Every Saturday in June, July and August, 10 a.m.
If you can't take the heat or maybe you're a working mom, join the Junior League volunteers inside the Crystal Bridge at the Myriad Botanical Gardens on Saturday mornings for Reading Rainforest. These story time sessions are free and open to children 11 and under. During the sessions, kids will enjoy a story read by JLOC volunteers inside the lobby of the air conditioned Crystal Bridge Tropical Conservatory. Afterward, the kids can participate in a craft and enjoy a complimentary snack and juice box. Then, the children can take a free guided tour of the Crystal Bridge Tropical Conservatory. Parents are asked to wait in the lobby during the tour or pay for admission and join them. Children are free. Reading Rainforest is held every Saturday at 10 a.m. in June, July and August.
