ADA, Okla. -- The ailing economy is impacting health care in Oklahoma. Doctors and nurses gathered in Ada Tuesday to protest job cuts at the Valley View Hospital.

Dozens of angered employees and community members voiced their concerns. Last week, the hospital eliminated 127 jobs. Some of the 91 people who were laid off had worked there for two or three decades.

Many of those laid off returned to the hospital to come face-to-face with the hospital officials who fired them.

The CEO, Ron Webb, said the hospital did not lay off any of the nursing staff and the patient services would not be affected.

In a document released shortly after the conclusion of the meeting, hospital officials announced the firing of Webb.

Last Friday, the Valley View Hospital's Human Resources Department hosted a job fair to help those recently unemployed find new jobs.
