'Happened So Fast': 19-Year-Old Oklahoman Survives Shark Attack

An Oklahoma teen survived a shark attack at Galveston Beach over Memorial Day weekend.

Damiana Humphrey, 19, of Durant, had the shark latch onto her hand while she was swimming.

She said she fought off the shark, punching it and screaming until it let go.

"I thought I was imagining it, because at the time my body didn't process that pain and I was like 'I'm not hurting', like I feel like this is a dream because it happened so fast," Humphrey said.

Humphrey was rushed to the local hospital where she underwent surgery to repair four torn ligaments.

Experts said the teen's reaction is the best defense when encountering a shark.
