State Department of Education To Meet Thursday; Discussing Teacher Suspensions, New Public Comment Rules

The Oklahoma State Department of Education will meet on Thursday morning to discuss the suspension of several teaching certificates, rules on public comments, and more.

One of the teachers in question is Cody Barlow, a former Wewoka Middle School principal accused of inappropriately touching male students on campus.

The department is also scheduled to discuss changes to public comment rules after a woman was arrested at April's meeting.

Speakers will now be chosen at random from a sign-up sheet.

The new rule also allows the superintendent to interrupt a speaker's comments if they are not following rules.

That meeting is set to begin at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday. News 9 will have updates.
