Oklahoma City police released the names of five people shot and killed inside a home. Only a 10-year-old child survived the mass killings, police said he was unharmed.

Police said Jonathon Candy, 42, shot and killed his wife, three of their children ages 18, 14 and 12 on Monday and then turned the gun on himself. At this time, investigators were not sure how the 10-year-old survived. They said he slept through the entire incident.

“Police received a 911 call from a 10-year-old from inside the residence indicating everyone appeared to be dead,” said Msgt. Gary Knight, Oklahoma City Police Department.

That call come in just after 9:30 a.m. Monday. When officers showed up to the family's home near Yukon, they found five bodies.

“There were two bodies downstairs, the wife and one of the children and two were upstairs,” said Knight.

Investigators learned Candy and his wife Lindsay Candy, 39, were in a fight the night before.

“At some point he armed himself with a gun and shot her multiple times killing her,” said Knight. “At that point he systematically went through the home shooting and killing their children.”

Police identified the children as Dylan Candy, 18, Ethan Candy, 14 and 12-year-old Lucas Candy. The unharmed 10-year-old was placed with a relative, according to police officials.

A photo of the Candy family circulating on social media showed a happier time. Police said they have no records or calls of domestic violence inside the home.

“We’re going to talk to friends and family and see if they may know something,” said Knight. “I know the public has a lot of questions. For what it’s worth we have a lot of questions. Unfortunately, most of those will go unanswered.”

Police said they may never know why Candy killed his wife and children.

Homicide investigators will document everything, but because the suspect is deceased, no one can be charged.

Mustang Public Schools district officials said three of the boys were students in the district. The 18-year-old graduated from Mustang High School last year.
