Tulsa Community College is using new technology from a local company to help its students find jobs.

The college is using artificial intelligence to help job seekers write resumes and cover letters.

The Director of Career Services at TCC says AI technology won't replace the one-on-one human help they provide, but it will be another tool students can use to get a job.

The list of jobs disrupted by artificial intelligence is growing, but now AI will be helping more people find work.

"It's tough finding the job I want," said TCC graduate Melissa Douglas.

Douglas says tailoring her resume for the job she wants is a challenge, but new software coming to TCC might make it easier.

Mark Hays is the Director of Career Services and says the new job search Genius AI tool will be an impressive addition to the services available to students.

"It uses artificial intelligence, helps them write that resume gives them suggestions, and it really is amazing what it can do," Hays said.

The new software comes from the Tulsa-based company WriteSea at the cost of $40,000. TCC is actually the first school of its kind to use the new tech.

"It's very time-consuming to do resumes and cover letters because it's very one-on-one, it's very personal and so what we have to do is we have to look to technology to help us make that job easier for the staff," Hays said.

Hays says AI won't be replacing any of the eight staff in his department but will help them make an even bigger impact on students.

"AI is not perfected yet, it's a long way from that, we still need that human touch, that human interaction to help those students along," Hays said.

The new program will be rolled out next week to a small group of students as a test, and if everything goes well it will be available to every student including alumni.
