Woman Connected To Manhunt Suspect, May Murder Arrested

A woman is in the Oklahoma County Jail facing a murder complaint.

According to police, Ashle Gilbert was arrested in connection to a homicide that happened in Oklahoma City in May 2023. 

According to court documents, another suspect in the shooting is Kameron Jenkins, the man who sparked a weeklong manhunt after a deputy was shot in Garvin County on Oct. 4.

Oklahoma City Police say Gilbert was booked into jail on October 11, 2023, on a first-degree murder complaint in connection with the May homicide. Court documents allege Gilbert sent texts "stating she was an accessory to the murder." 

According to a probable cause affidavit, Gilbert dropped her child off so she could go work as a prostitute on May 7. Court documents said she was with her ‘pimp,' identified in the documents as Kameron Jenkins. 

Witnesses told police Gilbert came back and was seen arguing with the homicide victim, according to court documents. Police say they searched Gilbert's phone, and that Gilbert asked Jenkins to come to the location. Jenkins said he was on his way, and stated "it was going to get heated," according to the affidavit, which also states Jenkins told Gilbert to take her child to the car.

Tommy Lewis was shot and killed. Another victim, identified in court documents as Lewis's brother, was shot and injured. Police said Gilbert and Jenkins left Oklahoma after the shooting.

The arrest warrant for Gilbert states police took her phone as evidence during a prostitution sting involving Gilbert and Jenkins. The two were charged in June with procuring prostitution, use of a computer for violating Oklahoma statutes, and engaging in prostitution.

Jenkins sparked a weeklong manhunt after a shootout in Garvin County on October 4. Cleveland County Deputy Sean Steadman was shot and injured. Steadman is now recovering at home. An innocent bystander, Gwaun Frierson, was killed in the crossfire.

Authorities say they believe Jenkins is dead. A cadaver dog found a body near the shooting scene south of Wynnewood on October 10. The Medical Examiner will make the official determination on the identity of the body and how the person died. News 9 has requested that report.

For the charges linked to the May homicide, Gilbert is being held in jail without bond.
