USFL, XFL Announce Intention To Merge Into Single League

The United States Football League and the XFL are merging into a single entity, the leagues announced Thursday.

The USFL said in a Tweet the move is subject to regulatory approvals, but if the merger goes through, will "establish best-in-class operations based on the most recent seasons of both leagues."

Both leagues said more details will come at a later date.
