A dangerous pursuit on Friday through Del City and on Interstate 40 came to a crashing end for two suspects. Police arrested 26-year-old Kaden Gibson and 42-year-old Curtis Brazille after the pursuit.

The attempted getaway did not end well for Gibson and his passenger Brazille. Police said Gibson lost control of the car as he was exiting I-40 and plowed into a field off Sunnylane Road early Friday morning.

Not long before the crash, an Oklahoma City officer tried to pull Gibson over near Southeast 15th Street and Prospect Avenue on a traffic stop.

“That vehicle failed to stop,” said Sgt. Dillon Quirk, Oklahoma City Police Department. “A pursuit was initiated.”

Police said the pursuit wound through neighborhoods in Del City and onto the interstate creating a dangerous situation for other drivers.

“At one point the suspect vehicle had turned off their headlights which obviously heightens the increase for collisions but ultimately that vehicle crashed out shortly after doing that,” said Quirk. “One person fled on foot from the vehicle. At that time, the other remained inside that vehicle.”

Police brought in canines to search for Gibson while Brazille was already in custody. According to the report, officers searched the car and found packs of THC and cannabis gummies and the same drugs in a gallon zip lock baggie. Officers also found digital scales used to weigh drugs.

Gibson and Brazille were arrested at the scene.

“The manner in which they found the narcotics they were ultimately booked on complaints consistent with those narcotics,” said Quirk.

Both suspects were booked into the Oklahoma County Detention Center on multiple felony complaints stemming from the pursuit.
