An unlicensed driver accused of causing a four-vehicle crash had been convicted twice before of driving without a license and was just in court last week for one of those cases.

Tulsa police said Jesus Belmontes pulled in front of another driver and that caused four vehicles to crash.

No one was killed, but some of the victims were hurt and but it'll be a massive headache for all of them.

It was a chain reaction crash near 129th East Avenue and 31st Street Tuesday night.

Police said Belmontes cut off someone driving a Mustang and that driver then crashed into a semi-truck. That caused a third driver behind the semi to crash into a curb, police said.

Police said it's the third Belmontes was caught for driving without a license.

"It's very frustrating when you run across anybody not following the law. It does make our job harder," said Tulsa police Sgt. Benjamin Elliott.

Sgt. Elliott said he sees a lot of crashes involving drivers who aren't licensed or insured.

"In Tulsa, we've taken an initiative over the last couple years with uninsured motorists," he said. "We are going to tow your vehicle."

Mike Rhoads with the Oklahoma Insurance Department said crash victims often deal with uninsured drivers and that means the victims are going to be out money.

He said uninsured motorist insurance usually only comes in handy for medical costs.

"I would encourage anybody in a collision and finds out that the other person doesn't have a license, to immediately call the police," Sgt. Elliott said.

Sgt. Elliott said it's no question-- you need to be following the law, or they will take action.

"Who do you think is number one in uninsured motorists? Oklahoma. That's why we're doing this in Tulsa," he said. "It's not because we're heartless. It's because we have a problem and need to solve it."

Belmontes was just convicted last week of driving without a license.

Police said Belmontes left the scene of this crash, but came back with his family and police arrested him for driving without a license and other traffic warrants.
